Professor of systematic theology at the University of Heidelberg/Germany, specialised in ecumenical theology and theology-economy issues
Co-founder and co-moderator of Kairos Europa, an ecumenical grassroots network striving for economic justice together with organisations of the marginalized and with solidarity groups (secular and church-related) linking North-South and East-West with inner-European social and ecological issues. Kairos Europa together with WEED and Pax Christi founded Attac Germany

Professional track record (selection)
1955-1963 Studies of theology and philosophy at the Universities of Tübingen, Heidelberg, Zürich, Basel, Paris, completed with a dissertation on St. Augustine (Th.Dr.)
1963-1970 Researcher in the Interdisciplinary Protestant Research Institute FEST, Heidelberg (Theology-Philosophy and Sciences, Peace Research etc.)
1968 until today Teaching at Heidelberg University, after a second thesis on “Christianity’s Responibility for the World” (Habilitation)
1970-1977 Director of the interdisciplinary Studies Department of the Lutheran World Federation, Geneva (Studies with institutes, churches and research groups all over the world)
1977-1978 Guest professor at the Ecumenical Institute in Bossey/Geneva
1978-2000 Ecumenical officer of the Evangelical Church in Baden
1983 until today Adviser of the World Council of Churches in various capacities in relation to the “Conciliar Process on Justice, Peace and the Integrity of Creation”
1997-2004 Member of the International Task Force of the World Alliance of Reformed Churches and the World Council of Churches concerning the “process of recognition, education and confession regarding economic injustice and ecological destruction”
2008 until today Member of Specialist Advisory Council of Attac Germany
